Three TransJakarta haltes inside 800 metres is unusual, and it is the practical reason to be here. Stasiun MRT Bendungan Hilir is the tenth of thirteen stations on the north-south line: three stops from Bundaran HI, two from Dukuh Atas and four from Blok M, with the whole 15.7 km line crossed in under 30 minutes. It was the fifth busiest station on the network in January 2026, handling 308,421 passengers that month.

That is the point of Bendungan Hilir and the reason it does not appear on the usual expatriate-area lists: it is a residential pocket inside the office district rather than a suburb you travel in from. The 86-metre convenience store is a smaller detail than the MRT station and a larger one than it looks: it is the difference between a late-evening errand being a decision and being nothing at all. The Benhil traditional market at 500 metres is the other end of the same spectrum, and its food court serves West Sumatran dishes and soto Betawi at Rp 15,000 to Rp 25,000 a portion — well below the Rp 42,500 Numbeo puts on an inexpensive restaurant meal across Jakarta.

Seeing it yourself
Distances on a page are a filter, not a decision. Walk from the door to Halte Bendungan Hilir and to the MRT entrance once, at eight in the morning on a weekday, and you will know more than any listing can tell you — including whether the 800 metres crosses anything you would rather it did not.
